I am Dr. Matt Karsten, pediatric dentist and founder of Kids First Pediatric Dentistry. I am married to the most amazing woman and have five wonderful children. These things keep me extremely busy, however, in my free time I enjoy spending time with friends and family, being outdoors, sports and reading.

I received my bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago, where I graduated with honors. I then attended the Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine. After graduating from dental school, I completed a 2 year residency in pediatrics at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia.

After my residency, I started Kids First Pediatric Dentistry. Because I was born and raised in the area, choosing this location for my practice was easy. I feel it is an honor to serve the children growing up in the same community that I did. My vision for the practice is to nurture and care for children's oral health from infancy to adulthood.

I am a member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Academy of Pediatrics, Illinois State Dental Society, Chicago Dental Society, Illinois Society of Pediatric Dentistry, Fox River Valley Dental Society and I am the past-president of the Elgin Dental Society/study club. My staff and I are also active in supporting numerous local youth activities and outreach programs. Currently, I am on staff at Sherman Hospital in Elgin and The Valley Ambulatory Surgery Center in St. Charles.
